Rotorua Golf Strategy

This strategy for golf facilities in the Rotorua District identifies an optimal network of golf facilities that will ensure that golf in the district is fit for purpose and ready to meet the golfing challenges and opportunities ahead.

The strategy was developed with the support of a pro-active and committed Project Steering Group with representatives from the golf fraternity and other key partners. The support and input of 5 local golf clubs, NZ Māori Golf and Pukeroa Oruawhata (Owners of Arikikapakapa land) was invaluable in informing the direction of the strategy.

The strategy proposes a range of changes to develop a more diverse golf network in Rotorua, providing a wider variety of facilities that support a broad range of golf experiences, catering to more of the Rotorua community.

Part of the success of this strategy is that it recognises the important role of programming and other operational approaches to supporting a sustainable network of golf facilities in Rotorua and identifies recommended actions to support this aspect. With leadership from Golf NZ and Sport Bay of Plenty the local clubs and Council can work partners and potential funders to achieve strategic change to the local golf network over time.
